These past two and half weeks have been an absolute roller coaster! I have had many ups and downs, mainly downs. If you follow me on Instagram then you know I made it public that I was just not in a good space whatsoever. And that exact date was February 8, 2020 and today is February 24, 2020 … I AM JUST NOW GETTING IT TOGETHER. Why in the heck did it take me 17 days to feel some type of good again?
January literally was amazing to me, so I don’t get how February comes and ruins it all. Maybe, I lost focus? I have just been exhausted to be 100% transparent with you guys. I mean, there are just so many roles that I am trying to excel in. Especially being a woman, I feel like we wear so many hats — wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, coworker, etc. — I’m telling you this list can go on, which is bonkers!!!!
Am I the only one who this happens to?
Well I refuse to end the month off like this, so I took the time during the beginning of last week to find the things that are limiting me, and trust me I’m still finding those things out. I’m in a much better head space and have done a couple of things to start my day off on a positive note. And I’m going to share those with you.
- Pray. If prayer isn’t your thing, totally cool. How about some meditation? For me, prayer is so important and allows me to set the tone for the day. It is the time when literally everyone is asleep and I get to have a one on one with God all by myself with no distractions. Sometimes, I even lay there and cry it out. I tell God literally everything. Prayer was missing and I’m happy that I’ve been back on it, because it truly does make a difference.
- Workout. If you don’t know already, working out is so my jam! Like to get up and get moving just makes everything so much better for me. My endorphins are high, I feel refreshed, and I’m ready to tackle my day. Or try putting on your favorite song and just dance around like it’s nobody’s business!!
- Plan ahead. Get a pen + paper or use your phone and create a to do list. I usually write out everything that I need to do for that particular day and once complete, I go through and highlight the things that must be done. And at the end of the day … I promise you it is okay if you did not finish every single thing on your list. I just always try and get to the important things. I have learned though to keep my list short and attainable.
- Spend some time with yourself. Days go by so fast, that we forget to just take a moment, and pause. So put your phone down and matter of fact, how about you turn it off? Depending on how much time you have, give yourself 10-20 minutes and do something with yourself. To give a few ideas I like to sit down in my little corner at home with a cup of coffee (or tea) and read. Or even just writing in my journal helps me out too.
Those are the four main ways I have managed to get out of my rut, making sure that I start my day off with a positive mindset. You would think this is easy to do, but I literally am working on making these daily task habits. I sure hope these tips will help you have a more positive and productive day.

This is such a great article! It’s so important to wake up feeling positive. I believe your mindset in the morning sets the tone for the whole day, but I do struggle with getting up and feeling great (especially as a new mama of 2 whose getting broken up sleep). But I’m going to save your post so I can refer back for these tips on those bad mornings!
February has a way of knocking me down as well! I love your tips for how you get yourself back together. One thing that has helped me is just being honest about it with others. That’s when I get the best support from those in my life. Also, taking the time to listen to inspiring podcasts makes a huge difference.
Loves these tips! Prayer is so important and makes such a difference.
All of these make me feel better too, thanks for the reminder!
I can totally identify with you here. A few of these steps are definitely my go to when life is giving me lemons. Yesterday was the day from hell and although I haven’t full recuperated I am getting there.
If you are thinking positively, you won’t be able to have a negative mindset fully understanding certain situations.
I try meditating more. Especially in this social distancing era it’s a priority to me.
