a group of people who have the same interest, religion, race, etc.
Today, I want to touch briefly on building an online community. As if making new friends as an adult wasn’t awkward or hard enough already, I’m also trying to find my people on social media
Being a content creator is a world on its own in my opinion and can feel very cliquey too. You sit back and watch other creators that you aspire to achieve their height of success and more. When your focus is on others and not your own the comparison begins.
I’m sidetracking for a moment, but hey we are sitting down, having a cup of coffee chatting! I mean it all ties in, some way or the other.
Anyways, so like I was saying you see all the macro and mega influencers doing so many things together. And they have this following that engages with them. I used to spend hours on Instagram profiles that I had the same interest in and would try to study what they were doing. Or flat out just admiring the community they have built, as I think about how I can build that.
I would lose hours focusing on someone else and what they have going on instead of pouring into myself and my community. I’m not sure when I stopped doing it, that’s how long ago it’s been since I came to my senses.
I realized at the end of the day, these people had to put the work in to get where they are now. They are on multiple platforms. They invest in themselves. Network with other content creators. I mean there’s so much that goes into it that I’m sure I don’t even know the half. I’m still learning myself. But, these creators have been doing it for years.
I was just having a conversation with my cousin last night about story views. Sometimes I only get 67, then out of nowhere there are 500+, then back down to 200 or so … it’s ever-changing. And I told her it is discouraging, because at one point I just stayed off of my stories, but not even a week later I told myself I still need to show up for my people who don’t miss a beat. The people that hop in my DM to check on me if I haven’t been present.
I told her we have to focus on the people we have now while still trying to build and grow our community. Don’t stop. Don’t get frustrated because you aren’t getting the results you want right now. Instant gratification is a
Take pride in your content and thing let me tell you, we are all guilty of it!
make changes as you go, but the worst thing you can do is sit around and compare yourself to others. You are not going to get anywhere doing that. Don’t waste time and energy, when you could have been putting that towards your content.
So, I guess that’s all I got for now. 2022 I’m going to deliver for the people who are here with me now, while still finding others to join my community … It’s going to be a beautiful thing.
I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend, beauties!
How do you find new friends? Are you a content creator, how do you find your people?
Ciao Beauties, XOXO.
