Well, the time has come, if you follow me on Instagram you have seen my post about doing the Whole30! I literally took notes as though I was taking a class, ha.
I first heard about the Whole30 last year late December. I saw a couple of girls that I used to do CrossFit with, post about how they were starting in January. You guys already know that I am on a mission to get back in shape … so of course, the next thing I did was do some research on exactly what the Whole30 was all about. And here is a short summary of what I gathered …
Melissa and Dallas Hartwig’s Whole30 program is meant for us to reset our health and change our relationship with food. During this program, you are going to eat a lot of fresh foods and say goodbye to all the processed stuff such as … soy, legumes, sugar, artificial sweeteners, dairy, grains, and alcohol. Getting rid of these foods allows your body to heal and be nourished, you are hitting the reset button and changing your relationship with food. Now foods you can eat are meat, veggies, eggs, seafood, healthy fats, and fruit. A few benefits that I’m looking forward to are less inflammation, clearer skin, a boost in energy, a healthy metabolism, a happy gut, and the B I G one … hormonal harmony!!!
One huge thing that stands out to me about this program is if you are hungry then eat! There is no measuring or calorie counting your food, just eat what is allowed and you’re good to go. This program can be a bit complicated, but if you have a set plan and are determined then this program is most definitely possible. I must warn you though, there are no cutting corners. If you cheat, you’re supposed to start again at day one no exceptions.
And another key thing, this is meant to be a lifestyle change, not a diet. Now I do see this as a diet for myself, so I am hoping at the end of these 30 days that I get more out of this. I want to see if my relationship with food will change in any way and if this is something that will be incorporated in my lifestyle.
I highly suggest reading the It Starts with Food, along with the 30-day guide. And if you want more information just go here. Let me know if you have any questions or have already decided to start the program!
Oh, and I have finally set aside time to take before pictures along with measurements! Take a look here.
