Ladies and gentlemen, remember a couple of months ago when I shared with you guys that I was going to start the Whole30, Round 2, and be serious about it. Yeah, I only recapped the first week and a couple of days later I was over it. That’s obviously why I haven’t posted again regarding the Whole30. Before I get into why it’s not for me, I’m going to provide you with a list of things you can eat while on the Whole30, if it’s not on the list I’m sorry you cannot have it!!! So yes, no cookies, no alcohol, no legumes, no dairy, etc. Trust me the list goes on what you can’t have, compared to what you can have.
Foods that are a GO!
- FATS. YAY to avocado’s D A I L Y!
- FISH. SALMON IS MY BEST FRIEND.
- FRUITS. KEEPS MY SWEET TOOTH UNDER CONTROL.
- MEAT. HAVE A TACO, EVEN A BURGER! OF COURSE NO SHELL, TORTILLA, OR BUN!
- POULTRY. WELL DUH! SELF EXPLANATORY THERE!
- VEGGIES. BINGE ON THE VEGGIES IF YOU MUST, YOUR OPTIONS ARE BOUNDLESS.
So there you have it, the above list is what you can choose from while on the Whole30. For more information regarding the Whole30, check out my first post, Hello WHOLE30., giving you all the details and information that you need.
Alright, so for the good part … why the Whole30 is no bueno for me! The Whole30 is not good for me because there is absolutely no room for cheating y’all! If you mess up, even if you are on day 29 … YOU HAVE TO START OVER. It is such a struggle for me to stay consistent and on the plan for 30 days without messing up. Either I have a craving for carrot cake oreo cookies or maybe I’m having a bad day and decide to indulge in something that I shouldn’t have like nachos or candy, even a fat juicy burger WITH THE BUN, lol.
That’s really my only issue with the Whole30, is that I can’t start over. And while writing this in my head I’m thinking, “Sim, just do either a Whole14 or a Whole21, because you obviously cannot get through 30 days.” That is my mindset and I’m just like why am I underestimating myself, I’m just being negative honestly.
I really do love the whole concept of the Whole30, it really did change how I perceived food. Yes, I never got through another round after my first time (lol), but I’m always making a conscious decision when it comes to clean eating and its paid off. I’m still losing weight and it’s actually staying off.
I did my first Whole30, weighing in at 230 lbs, OH SNAP! BEFORE PICTURES, and only lost 5 pounds … meaning I ended up at 225 lbs at the end of my Whole30, I kicked the Whole30 in the butt!
I am happy to say as of this morning, Tuesday, October 8, 2019, I am weighing in at 199 pounds. I want to push myself and prove that I can do another successful Whole30. It’s not hard, but it definitely going to take a whole lot of determination and willpower.
The Whole30 program is strict and there is quite a bit of food that you will have to cut out. I know this is no diet, but part of me is doing this to lose weight, sorry not sorry? I’m actively back in CrossFit, so I’m excited to see if there will be any change in my performance! Oh, and as of last week I decided to add more cardio to my workouts to help with my weight loss, so I will be running 3x a week. And I definitely am having inflammation still, so I really want to know what is causing that to flare up.
Y’all! I’m so determined and I really hope to successfully complete my 2nd round of the Whole30. A couple of things that I’m going to do this go around:
- No stepping on the scale for 30 days! This is a big one for me, for the past 3 months stepping on the scale first thing in the morning and at night has become a ritual! It drives me crazy seeing my weight fluctuate between 203 – 207 lbs.
- I will make sure to always have snacks!
- I will definitely take time to meal prep
- Make it a lifestyle. Well actually, I already do that, hahaha … just not for 30 days straight.
What about you though? Have you one the Whole30 or ever considered it? What are the struggles you experience with food? I’d love for you to share your experience with me!
Head on over here,OH SNAP!BEFORE PICTURES ROUND 3 , to take a look at my pictures as of this morning.

I kicked the Whole30 in the butt!
I’d never heard of this before. I’m trying to kick a few pounds and this is news toe!
Oh goodness, if you can please try it. Even if you do it for 14 or 21 days.
I like the list of all foods that are a go. Pretty much a quick little summary of what to eat and not to eat.
Glad it helped, makes it a lot easier to follow the guidelines in my opinion.
Good job for losing 5 pounds! That’s an accomplishment! That’s crazy you have to restart though! One cookie shouldn’t make that big of a difference. I think just getting rid of snacking for the most part, has helped me lose weight and just reduce belly bloat that things with gluten and salt do to me, like pretzels or crackers (my weakness).
Thanks!!! LOL right, like why do I have to start over if I have a cookie. I’ve decided I’m done with the Whole30! I may do a Whole7 or Whole14 in the future, but I’m just going to watch what I eat and continue to workout. And I should definitely work on my snacking as well and see what changes occur.
I would definitely prefer a whole14 or whole21!! I totally respect the premise of the whole30, because I know anytime I have a legitimate plan in place (usually for trying to detox from sugar when I get way too many cravings… or go totally overboard with Halloween candy and its leftovers) and stick with it, I feel a WORLD of difference. I like the accountability aspect of a challenge. Thanks for sharing!

So I actually just finished and decided I’m not doing it again lol, so restricting! I’ll definitely consider a Whole7 or Whole14 though, the good thing is even when I’m not on the Whole30 I still try and follow the guidelines when meal prepping!
Simmy Hassan I so tried to do this. I failed miserably haha. I can only do extreme things for about a month before I lose my mind. I’m a perfectionist, so if I even stray a tiny bit I feel like a failure 🤦♀️
Aww, lol. So when I tried this the first time I did great. I’m pretty sure I tried to complete a second round at least 3-4x times and yeah it was a no go!
Not for me love food too much to be that restricted, good on you for trying though, keep it up!
LOL, OMG I love food too. And it the Whole30 is not for everyone. I just finished this round and I think I’m done for now lol
