Hello and good morning beautiful people!
There’s nothing like the joy of sipping a fresh, hot cup of coffee at my desk. And let me tell you, Texas came through with its cold front this week. Up North in my area, we even had snow, which the kids, especially Asiyah, were beyond excited.

Now, let’s talk about something that’s brought me a lot of joy lately, running. It’s been a journey getting back to it, but I’m so glad I did. I ran four times this week, and I’m planning to make it five today. I secretly love running … shh, don’t tell anyone. Lifting weights, doing cleans will always have my heart, but there’s something about running that brings me a sense of calm and clarity.
Of course, it wasn’t easy getting started again. The first day was brutal. If you’ve ever felt that itchy sensation while running, you know what I’m talking about.
If you didn’t know, when you start running again, even after a break, you often experience itching because your body is rapidly increasing blood flow to your muscles. This causes your capillaries and arteries to expand, stimulating your nerve cells, which creates that itchy sensation!
It was tough not to push too hard, but I had to remind myself to dial it back and take things slow. I did a little research and found that some people take allergy meds or use anti-itch lotion, but for me, powering through has been the best strategy. The itching doesn’t last long, thankfully, and the sense of accomplishment afterward is so worth it.
To make this transition smoother, I invested in the ASICS Women’s Gel-Kayana Running Shoes. They come in different colorways, and they’ve been a game changer. I love how lightweight they are and how much support they provide, especially since I’ve been dealing with plantar fasciitis, tight calves, and hip pain.

When I first started running again after being cleared post delivery with Asiyah, the shoes I initially purchased turned out to be a no go. They just weren’t the right type for me, probably better for walking. But these ASICS are amazing! I’d definitely recommend them to anyone running or with plantar fasciitis, but everyone’s needs are different. If what I’ve describe sounds familiar, it’s worth checking them out, but doing your own research is always a good idea too.
Running has been such a pick me up for me. I’ve neglected my Peloton bike and using the treadmill at the gym lately.
I’d love to have my own treadmill in my home gym someday. If I could have any treadmill, it would definitely be the Peloton Tread+. My husband and I visited the showroom once and fell in love with it. When I worked at Peloton, I used to use their treadmills in the office, and they were top-tier.
This renewed focus on running has reminded me how important it is to take care of myself. I’m not in the shape tI used to be, and it’s become clear in small ways, like how hard it is to keep up with my kids.
When I was too tired, my husband would always step in, and we worked as a team. Now it’s just me, and I need to make sure I’m healthy and strong for them. Taking care of my health, staying active, and even simple things like taking my vitamins are all steps in the right direction.

I’d love to hear from you, what’s been your go to workout or self care routine lately? Even if it’s not running, what’s helping you take care of your health and feel good? Let’s share and inspire each other.
With love,
