Con-fi-dence
- a feeling of self-assurance arising from one’s appreciation of one’s own abilities or qualities
A while ago, on Instagram, I posted on my stories for people to pick a color that best describes me. The color I mainly got was RED and I was shocked! I was shocked because one word that was under that color option was confidence. I mean I do believe I am confident in certain situations, but overall it is definitely something I struggle with. I know that I can accomplish whatever I put my mind to and that there are no limits. There’s nothing that will stop me from getting what I want. And I have proven this to myself time and time again. I just know how to get in my head in certain situations and overthink! Especially in social settings, I touched on it in my post about social anxiety. I really don’t know where my issue with confidence comes from, because I’ve never felt this way until my mid 20s believe it or not. My friends totally don’t see this part of me, they see me as this outgoing and confident person. I keep trying to explain to them it is because I know them!!! I have gotten better though when it comes to my confidence. I’ve learned to build up my confidence though and let me tell you, it is working out well for me. I see the results even though I still feel like I have a ways to go. I’ve started my career with an amazing company. My social media is taking off, well for me it is anyways lol. I’m learning to be that person that sparks up conversation with a stranger. I’m learning to go to events by myself. The list goes on and let me tell you, I still struggle with confidence. I’ve just learned how to get those negative thoughts out of my head and fake it till I make it. And it is working like a charm. I guess I just wanted to have a quick chat about this, because I can’t be the only one who struggles in this area. My hopes are to give someone the push they need to go out there with their head held high and go after what they want. Whether it is a goal you’re wanting to achieve or if you want to be that social butterfly. Here are a few tips that have got me to this point.
- Fake it till you make it!
- Elevate your image!
- Just do it!
- Say adios to that negative voice in your head.
- Put yourself out there.
- Coffee (or your drink of choice) in one hand, Confidence in the other.
